In a report released earlier this week, a noted scholar has dubbed the Bush/Cheney administration the "Not See" Party, due to their mounting alleged intelligence failures and civil rights violations, which include the 9/11 bombings, the uncanny number of Florida terrorist connections, and the blatant piracy of corporations close to the administration, such as Enron, Worldcom and George W. Bush's own corporation, Global ConQuest. "I was originally going to call them the 'Know-Nothing Party,' because of the administration's horrible record of intelligence failures in general," says Joe Nochingo, the author of the report. "But that name was taken and it seems obvious that Bush and Cheney know a lot. They just prefer to 'not see' it." Nochingo, a scholar at Georgia's Universidad Autonoma de Comercio, Artes, Letras y Anglo Studies (GUACALA), says he has been studying the activities of the Bush campf since before the Florida election scandal. In his report, he asserts that there is too much evidence to ignore that the Bush/Cheney administration knows more than they claim. According to the report, which is titled "Dubious George: What Didn't Bush Know and When Didn't He Know It?," Nochingo presents an overwhelming amount of evidence pointing toward the fact that it is statistically impossible for the administration to have missed so many clues and warning signs. "It is categorically, statistically, rationally, politically, militarily and historically impossible that they could be completely clueless about so much," says Nochingo, "although, George W. Bush does increase the probability a little." In his report, Nochingo cites a litany of the Bush administration's alleged intelligence failures. "They did 'not see' 9/11, they did 'not see' the terrorists training in Florida flight schools, they did 'not see' that the letter anthrax may have come from US military labs, they did 'not see' the oncoming collapse of the economy, they did 'not see' the fraud in corporations they used to work for, and they do 'not see' how their War on Terror is eroding civil liberties," says Nochingo, adding. "And not just Bush and Cheney...Ashcroft, Ridge, Rice, Thompson, the whole administration. They all clearly have 'Not See' tendencies." In addition, Nochingo also maintains that the administration had a dismal decisionmaking record before the bombing of the World Trade Center. "Remember, before 9/11, Bush and Cheney were talking about what a great idea it would be to revive the nation's nuclear energy program, and now they are freaked out that nuclear reactors are our most vulnerable points," says Nochingo. "It is safe to say that in the history books, the words 'George W. Bush' and 'intelligence failure' will be forever linked." Also troubling, says Nochingo, is the administration's increased violation of civil liberties and human rights. "Arrests without charges, the PATRIOT Act, citizen spies, green-lighting the assassination of foreign leaders?," asks Nochingo. "There is too much 'Not See' activity going on here to not see." Gus Tapo, a spokesman for Bush's Department of Homeland Security, was unavailable for comment.
