Gulf War anniversary arrives amid radiation controversy
"Colin Cancer" blamed for widespread veteran illnesses

(Remember Los Alamos, NV) As the world prepares to observe the 10th anniversary of the Gulf War against Iraq, questions continue to arise over America's use of depleted uranium (DU) weapons. DU weapons, which were first used in the Persian Gulf and later in Kosovo, are being linked with high rates of cancer, liver and kidney problems, mysterious illnesses, birth defects and deaths among civilians and military personnel who served in those wars.

The controversy stems from widespread evidence that DU weapons, which use the uranium isotope U-238 to enhance their armor piercing abilities, have turned Iraq, Kuwait and Kosovo into radioactive forbidden zones.

In one recent experiment, a gene from a Gulf War veteran was injected into a Rhesus monkey, causing the monkey to glow in the dark.

Stunned by this news, the nation turned to President-elect George W. Bush for leadership.

When asked to comment about the effects of U-238, however, Bush remarked, "It was the best submarine movie I have ever seen." He then added, "The effects were very realistic."

Critics around the world are demanding to know whether then-Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney and General Colin Powell knowingly put US and Coalition servicemen at risk of DU contamination and radiation poisoning.

Investigative journalist Fran Lee Feyer says they did. In her new book "Colin Cancer: the Silent Killer," Feyer documents how high ranking officials in the Department of Defense, including Powell and Cheney, were fully aware of the long-term danger DU weapons posed to enemy as well as American soldiers prior to 1991's Operation Desert Storm.

"This is simply the latest episode in a shameful history of criminal wrongdoing by the US military that stretches all the way back to the nuclear tests of the 1940s and 50s,"says Feyer. "As far as our troops are concerned, DoD plus DU spells D.E.A.D."

When asked why the Department of Defense would knowingly unleash such long-term human and environmental devastation, Dick Cheney, who is now Vice President-elect, replied, "For the same reason we invaded Panama a year earlier: Just 'Cause."

The Pentagon has denied any link between DU weapons and Gulf War Syndrome, but has agreed to launch an advertising campaign in Iraq and Kuwait that warns: "Don't Drink the Water."

At a press conference to mark the anniversary of the Iraqi conflict, President Clinton announced the construction of a new Gulf War Memorial to be called "The Tumor of the Unknown Soldier."

Meanwhile, Italy, France, Norway, Portugal, Britan, Iraq, Kuwait, Kosovo and parts of East Los Angeles are gripped by fear and anger as an invisible killer stalks their veterans.

But the story doesn't end there.

Feyer warns that President-elect Bush plans to fast-track the introduction of depleted uranium into school lunch programs, foreign aid packages and building materials for low-income housing projects.

She claims that Bush is already moving to create a new department of Compassionate Housing and Urban Development, which will be known as CHUD.

In related news, the menudo has hit the fan over this issue. Puerto Rican burning sensation Ricky Martin is being severely criticized by former band-mate Robi Rosa for agreeing to perform at the Bush Inaugural. Rosa's concern stems partly from the fact that the US Navy has been bombarding the Puerto Rican island of Vieques with DU shells since the previous Bush administration.

Rosa, who wrote all of Martin's recent hits, has called Martin's decision a "betrayal of everything that every Puerto Rican should stand for."

Rosa has also reportedly forbidden Martin from ever performing his moving anti-war ballad "Shake Your Bomb Bomb."
