Tijuana No! to release children's
album later this month

TIJUANA - The controversial border rock band Tijuana No! takes a softer
approach to music, releasing a children's album later this month. The album,
which is to be called "Dos de lengua y tres de cabeza" was recorded
live on the rooftop of Tacos El Gordo in downtown Tijuana. Reflecting the
influence of their newest member, Chunky Armadillo, the band has also opted
to change its name to Tijuana Quizas! in order to promote a more positive
image for the children of the controversial border town.
"I originally suggested
other names like 'Tijuana Por Su Puesto!' or 'Tijuana Simon Que Yes!'"
says Armadillo, "but the other bandmembers felt those names would
send out the wrong signals. They suggested 'Chupa mi chiflo, Chunky!' and
'Que te vayas a la chingada, menso!', so we stuck with 'Tijuana Quizas!'"
In order to explore a more indigenous sound, Tijuana Quizas! incorporates
a variety of instruments native to the region, including a three-stringed
guitar, a bartender's whistle and a Bart Simpson piggy bank full of coins.
Songs like "Puff, The Feathered Serpent," "Taco de Ojo"
and "Los Tres Cochinito PRI Bastards" are sure to be classics,
and their duet "Mi Caballito Lerdo" with legendary Mexican children's
TV star Chabuelo is already receiving significant airplay throughout Mexico.
So strong is the positive reaction to the song, that "Mi Caballito
Lerdo" is already being touted as a possible Grammy winner next year
in the newly-established "Token Spanish-Language Award" category.
Tijuana Quizas! will begin a US tour which is scheduled to include playing
on the rooftops of all of the Southern California Roberto's Taco Shops
and various Taco Bells which are rumored to be hotbeds of Zapatista support.
